During this introductory workshop, we will go Back to Basics to ensure that delegates have an understanding of the law and basic principles relating workplace data privacy in the UK.
Ensuring effective compliance with data protection law remains a challenge for many employers. From confusion over the basic principles, to a lack of confidence and/or resource to deal with the trickier issues and subject access requests, it is no wonder that navigating employee data remains a minefield for many. If this resonates with you, then we are here to help!
We would like to invite you to our #Discovering…Employee Data Protection webinar series to give you the tools and confidence to handle any workplace data protection issue you might come across.
During the final workshop in the series, we look at how employers can effectively deal with workplace data subject access requests (DSARs). The Information Commissioner’s Office received over 15,000 DSAR complaints last year and has made it clear that organisations will be subject to fines or reprimand if they do not respond to DSARs properly and promptly. With this in mind and the number of DSARs on the rise, particularly in the context of grievances and employment disputes, now is the time to ensure your staff know how to properly manage a DSAR in compliance with the law.
This workshop will include the following:
- What is a DSAR?
- Initial considerations when receiving a DSAR
- Understanding redactions
- Dealing with third party information
- Applying exemptions
- Reflecting on past processes and preparing the business for future DSARs
- Interplay between DSARs and litigation
