Two companies – one vision
Dr. Wolff Group was founded in 1905 in Bielefeld, Germany that today consists of two companies - a medical and a cosmetic division. We are a family business in its fourth generation, based in Bielefeld, with more than 800 employees globally.
At the core of our brands are problems no one likes to talk about – hair loss, neurodermatitis, vaginal dryness, cavities, or sweating. At Dr. Wolff, we are taboo-breakers. Our products are problem-solvers, which alleviate the suffering and improve quality of life.
As a medium-sized company, we are surrounded by large multinational corporations. In a sense, we are the Gauls from East Westphalia. And we are different – really different. We dare to tackle issues that no one else dares to tackle, and we take paths that no one else treads: founded more than 100 years ago as a small factory for the production of pharmaceuticals, we are now one of the largest medium-sized family businesses in the German pharmaceutical and cosmetics market.
Markets and locations
German engineering for your hair: Our products are produced and distributed in the tranquil town of Bielefeld. Today, our products are available in 67 countries.
In the years 2013 and 2016, Dr. Wolff opened their own locations in Asia. First in Singapore, where ten employees work today, and in 2016 also in Shanghai to serve the Chinese market. Our CEO, Eduard Dörrenberg and our Vice President of Sales, Nils Merkel, lived in Singapore for a while to personally drive the growth in Asia. One of our biggest markets is the UK. For this, we have opened our UK office in Manchester.
Our brands
Alpecin
Alpecin focuses on the global male problem of “hereditary hair loss” with caffeine-containing products. The brand is characterized by the special caffeine complex that inhibits the negative influence of testosterone on the hair root and thus prevents hair loss. Alpecin has a broad care system for dry, flaky and oily scalps.
Plantur
Did you know that women also experience hair loss? This could be caused by stress, nutrients deficiency or hormone changes, such as pregnancy or menopause.
Plantur 39 is the first product line explicitly formulated for the prevention of hormone-induced hair loss in women and is tailored to the special needs of hair over forty. Whether fine or coloured hair, Plantur offers the right care for the different needs. The product portfolio also includes a colour care series in the shades brown.
Dr. Wolff’s V-san
Vagisan is one of the leading Boots brands when it comes to women’s intimate care. Accompanied by open communication, the gynaecological products address the taboo subject of vaginal dryness.
Our approach
Courageous, attention-grabbing communication is a tradition for all brands of Dr. Wolff Group. We break taboos, create friction and stimulate discussion. In doing so, we also try to think things “new” or “different”. If someone claims that it “can‘t be done”, we consider this a challenge to think again intensively about whether there isn’t a way to do it after all.
